Mothers in Croatia face lower wages at top of private sector.
The study looked at why men and women in Croatia earn different wages. They used data from surveys in 1998 and 2005 to see how wages vary between genders. Women with good education and skills get paid less than men with the same qualifications. The wage gap is small for lower-paid jobs but gets bigger for higher-paid jobs. Women with children earn less than women without children, especially in private sector jobs. This shows that even though women have good qualifications, they are not paid as much as men in Croatia.
