Altruism in the Lab Fails to Predict Real-World Generosity
This study wanted to see if people who are generous in lab settings are also kind in real-life public situations. They ran two experiments to check if how people acted in the lab matched how they behaved in natural settings. The results showed that while lab actions could somewhat predict how generous someone might be towards real public goods, it wasn't always a precise match. Tests used to measure niceness didn't always show who would give to natural public goods. The connection between lab and real-world generosity wasn't straightforward.
