Boost Sweet Corn Yields by 50% with Vermicompost and Less Fertilizer
The study aimed to find the best amount of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer for growing sweet corn. Different combinations were tested, and it was found that using vermicompost with 50-85% of the usual fertilizer amount led to higher sweet corn yields. The best results were seen with 20 tons of vermicompost plus 70% of the usual fertilizer, producing 12.50 and 15.80 tons of husked and unhusked ears per hectare. Plants treated with 40 tons of vermicompost and half of the usual fertilizer had the highest percentage of double ears at 29.69%. Using vermicompost alone did not give as good results as using inorganic fertilizers.
