Trade Liberalization Boosts Agricultural Productivity, Slashes Poverty in Tunisia
In the research, a model was developed to see how opening up trade in agriculture affects technology, poverty, and income in a country. They combined different methods to look at how trade influences improvements in farming methods and how that affects people's well-being. Using data from Tunisia, the study found that when trade in agriculture is increased along with productivity gain, there is less poverty. This means that making trade easier for agricultural products can help reduce poverty in a country like Tunisia.
