Slow progress in African Union human rights system impedes justice.
In 2008, progress was made in improving human rights in Africa, with more money allocated to the system. However, the African Commission and Court faced challenges in harmonizing their rules, delaying the submission of cases. The slow progress of the Court hinders the effectiveness of the African human rights system. Additionally, the AU policy organs did not adequately address serious human rights violations, undemocratic rule, and impunity.
