Exporting boosts productivity and growth for Swedish manufacturing firms in 1990s.
The study looked at how exporting affects the success of Swedish manufacturing firms in the 1990s. They found that more productive firms tend to start exporting. Surprisingly, exporting also helps firms become even more productive. Exporting firms are generally more productive than non-exporting ones. Firms that increase their exports also see higher growth in output. This suggests that moving resources between firms may have boosted overall productivity in manufacturing during that time.
