This paper compares the impact of losing a job in France and the US. The study shows that while both countries see similar wage losses (around 10-15%), the reasons behind the wage decrease differ. In France, the wage decline is mainly due to losing the potential to earn more at the same company, while in the US, most of the wage drop comes from moving to lower-quality jobs.
