Cities are more productive but also more unequal than small towns due to natural advantages, economies of scale, and firm selection. Larger cities attract skilled workers, leading to higher productivity. However, this also increases earnings inequality. The model shows how new cities form, existing cities grow, and income inequality changes in urban areas.
