Optimizing Mungbean Plant Spacing Boosts Yield and Protein Production in Ethiopia
The study looked at how different spacing between mungbean plants affects their growth and yield. They tested three spacing options for rows and plants, using two mungbean varieties. The results showed that variety MH-97 grew taller and had more branches than variety N-26. MH-97 also produced more pods and had a higher crop stand count at harvest. The best spacing for maximum biomass was 30 cm between rows and 5 cm between plants. Variety MH-97 at 40 cm row spacing had the highest harvest index and grain yield. Overall, the study found that spacing between mungbean plants can significantly impact their growth and productivity.
