Improved tillage and crop residue management boost soil health in wheat fields.
The study looked at how different ways of tilling the soil and managing crop residue affect soil quality when growing wheat. They tested three tillage methods and five residue management practices. The results showed that reduced tillage and applying 5 tons of crop residue per hectare with a certain type of bacteria helped keep more moisture in the soil. Conventional tillage and the same residue management also improved the soil's density. So, using less intensive tillage and adding crop residue can make the soil better for growing wheat.
