Biofuel Policies Significantly Reduce Global Food Prices by Expanding Farmland
Biofuels have affected crop and food prices, but the exact impact is debated. This study used a model to look at how expanding farmland can lessen the rise in feedstock prices caused by biofuel policies and higher energy prices. By allowing for more land to be used, the model showed that prices can be kept lower. This means that using more available land can help reduce the impact of biofuels on agricultural markets.
