Argentina's Workfare Program Lifts Poorest Families Out of Poverty
The study looked at how a work-fare program in Argentina helped poor families increase their income. They found that the average income gain was about half of what the workers earned. Most of the beneficiaries were from the poorest groups in the country, showing that the program targeted those in need. Men and women had similar income gains, but younger workers benefited more. If more women joined the program, it wouldn't increase average income gains. However, if more young people joined, average gains would go up but the distribution of gains would be less equal.
