Myanmar's multiple exchange rate system causes economic problems. A study looked at how this affects the country. They found that if Myanmar had one exchange rate, it would be around K 400-500 per U.S. dollar. Using this rate would increase trade openness a lot. The current system causes an efficiency loss of about 14-17% of GDP.
