Australian SMEs with growth plans more likely to secure bank loans.
The study looked at why Australian small businesses ask banks for loans and how likely they are to get approved. Businesses that want to grow, have plans, are bigger, or are in agriculture are more likely to seek loans. Older firms, those in agriculture, with new products, lots of exports, and male CEOs are more likely to get approved for loans. Having plans doesn't affect how successful a business is in getting a loan. Size doesn't affect the success of getting a loan either.
