Immigration fuels innovation and growth in U.S. labor market.
Immigrants in the U.S. labor market bring skills that are needed and have helped the workforce grow since the 1990s. Most immigrants are either low-skilled or high-skilled workers. Unauthorized immigration has mainly increased the low-skilled workforce, which has had some negative effects on taxpayers and U.S.-born workers. However, high-skilled immigrants have been very beneficial, especially in the tech industry, where they have boosted innovation and entrepreneurship. Highly skilled immigrants also contribute more in taxes than they use in public services. Immigration reform is being considered, and policies like legalizing immigrants, creating guest-worker programs, and offering more visas to high-skilled workers could be better than the current situation.
