Indian Commercial Banks Face Mixed Scale Economies, Impacting Profitability
The study compared two models to see if Indian banks become more efficient as they grow. One model showed that all types of banks benefit from getting bigger, while the other model found that only foreign banks benefit. Nationalized banks actually become less efficient as they grow, and private banks have both good and bad effects from growing. The results suggest that different methods can give different answers about how banks perform as they get bigger. Further research is needed to understand how banks really behave in a changing industry.
