The study looked at how the type of visa immigrants have affects their job status in Australia. Immigrants chosen for their job skills tend to have better job outcomes than those chosen for family reasons. This difference remains even after considering education and other skills. Over time, immigrants with job skill visas have higher job interest, while the difference in employment rates decreases. Also, immigrants who speak English well and have visited Australia before moving there tend to have better job outcomes.
