Immigrants from Wealthy Countries More Likely to Start Businesses in U.S.
Immigrants from developed countries are more likely to be self-employed in the U.S. than immigrants from developing countries. This is surprising because immigrants from countries with high self-employment rates usually engage more in self-employment in the U.S. Developed countries may provide better access to start-up capital for immigrants, and institutional arrangements in these countries may give them an advantage over immigrants from developing countries.
