Healthier older men more likely to stay in workforce, study finds
Older working-age Australian men are facing challenges in staying in the workforce as they age. A study using data from the HILDA survey found that a person's health plays a significant role in their decision to continue working. By analyzing three waves of data, researchers were able to better understand how health directly impacts labor force participation. They discovered that unobserved factors affecting both health and work status need to be considered, and that the correlation between health and labor force status is important. Ignoring this correlation could lead to underestimating the impact of health on the decision to keep working.
