Late-career wages boost Social Security more for women than men.
Late-career wages can boost Social Security benefits more for women than men. Women who work longer and earn more in their later years can increase their monthly benefits, especially if they had lower-earning years earlier in their careers. This study used the Health and Retirement Study to show that women's late-career earnings have a bigger impact on Social Security benefits compared to men. The study also looked at how marital status and education level affect this impact on women.
