Economic perspective challenges effectiveness of international law in state conduct.
The article discusses how international law is being viewed through an economic lens. Some scholars argue that international law doesn't really influence how countries behave, while others believe it does. The authors of two recent books take a more detailed look at this issue using economic methods. They suggest that while economics can help us understand some aspects of international law, it doesn't explain everything. Economic models have limitations and can't answer all questions about how international law functions. So, we need to be careful when making policy decisions based solely on economic perspectives.
