Trade agreements have different impacts on international trade. A study looked at 296 trade agreements and found that they vary in terms of policy domains, institutional quality, and enforceable commitments. By analyzing these differences, the researchers discovered that the type of trade agreement does matter for international trade. Some agreements have a positive impact, while others have a negative effect. This shows that not all trade agreements stimulate international trade in the same way.
