Poverty in Uganda depletes soil, threatens crop production and land
The study looked at how poverty affects farming and land in Uganda. Farmers there are losing soil nutrients, which lowers crop productivity. Replacing these nutrients is expensive. Investments like soil conservation and trees can help. Bigger families produce more crops but harm the land. Programs like agricultural advice and access to credit help farmers grow more crops. Education helps too, but can harm the soil. Roads help protect the soil. Different land ownership types don't affect crop productivity much, but some types lead to more land damage. Improving farming methods and education can boost crop production, but more needs to be done to protect the land.
