Islamic banking has been growing globally at rates of 10-15% annually and is now present in over 51 countries. Many financial experts are unfamiliar with how Islamic banks are introduced into conventional systems. The main phases in this process are described in the paper, along with the challenges countries will face as Islamic banking develops alongside conventional institutions.
