Weedy rice control system boosts rice yield by up to 85%!
The study looked at how to control weedy rice in wet direct seeded rice fields. Weedy rice germinated less on burned straw than on exposed soil. Most weedy rice was found close to the surface. By not plowing after harvest, irrigating in early May, and using herbicides, weedy rice was controlled by 88-91%. This led to a 50-85% increase in rice yield.
