The article looks at whether there is a pay difference between public and private sector workers in Italy. They analyzed data from 1998 to 2008 and found that women in the public sector earn about 14% more than women in the private sector, while men earn about 4% more. This difference is more pronounced at higher wage levels and in certain regions. The pay gap increases when considering other factors that may influence job choice. In large private firms, women still earn more in the public sector, but men do not.
