Information advantage in contests leads to unexpected prize distribution disparities.
The article explores how players' information affects their efforts and payoffs in Tullock contests with uncertain prize values. When players have more information, they tend to exert less effort in symmetric contests but more effort in asymmetric contests. In two-player contests, the player with information advantage exerts less effort on average. In symmetric contests, effort and payoffs remain the same regardless of information. However, in asymmetric contests, having information advantage leads to lower chances of winning the prize.
