Supreme Court Cameras: Opening Up Justice or Hiding Behind Closed Doors?
The U.S. Supreme Court doesn't allow cameras in its courtroom, unlike other countries like Canada and the UK. The Canadian Supreme Court has been broadcasting its hearings on TV since the 1990s, while the UK Supreme Court has allowed broadcasts since 2009. Brazil also broadcasts its Supreme Court meetings live on TV since 2002. The U.S. Supreme Court prefers to release audio recordings of its oral arguments instead of allowing live broadcasts.
