Optimizing groundnut plant spacing and fertilizer levels boosts yields and profits.
The researchers studied how different plant spacings and fertilizer levels affect the productivity of summer groundnut crops. They conducted a field experiment with various plant populations and nutrient levels. The results showed that a plant population of 3.33 lakhs per hectare with 100% recommended dose of nutrients resulted in the highest kernel yield and economic returns. Wider plant spacing led to higher number of branches, pods per plant, and harvest index. Overall, the combination of specific plant population and fertilizer level proved to be the most effective for maximizing groundnut yield and profitability.
