Weed control boosts chickpea productivity in agroforestry, revolutionizing farming practices.
A study was done to see how different weed control methods affect chickpea growth in agroforestry with Jatropha plants. They tested 12 herbicides and hand weeding to see which worked best. Hand weeding at 30 days after sowing was the most effective at reducing weeds and increasing chickpea yield. The herbicide Pendimethalin at 1000 g/ha also worked well. It reduced weed growth and increased chickpea yield by 12.54 q/ha. Overall, hand weeding and Pendimethalin were the most effective at controlling weeds and improving chickpea productivity in this agroforestry system.
