Sustainable Farming Boosts Crop Yields and Soil Health in Rainfed Punjab
Researchers studied how different ways of adding nutrients to soil affected the growth of maize and wheat crops in Punjab. They tried out nine methods over three years and found that using a mix of NPK fertilizer with farmyard manure gave the best results. This method led to the highest grain yields, nutrient uptake by the plants, and profit for the farmers. The soil also improved, showing higher levels of organic carbon, phosphorus, and potassium. This suggests that a combination of NPK fertilizer and farmyard manure is a good way to help crops grow well and keep the soil healthy under rainy conditions in Punjab.
