Talking about memories can improve emotional well-being in all ages
The study looked at how memories of good and bad events fade over time, known as the Fading Affect Bias (FAB). They found that talking about events and sharing them with others can make the FAB stronger. Both young adults and elderly people showed similar patterns in how their memories faded. The older the event and the older the person, the stronger the FAB. Different ways of rehearsing memories can affect how quickly the feelings associated with those memories fade. This research shows that talking about events and sharing them with others can influence how we remember them.
