New Roofing Technique Reduces Heat Load, Saves Energy in Buildings
The goal of the study was to find a better roofing technique to reduce heat entering buildings in moderate climates. The researchers studied six common roof types, including concrete, tiles, thatch, and green roofs, to see how they affected heat transfer. They also looked at the impact of shade nets on rooms with different roof types. By recording temperatures of different surfaces and air inside the enclosures, as well as weather conditions like sunlight and wind, they were able to compare the performance of each roof type.
