Urban runoff pollution in Dongguan City, China, is a big problem due to rapid urbanization. A study found that the city exports around 338,489 tons of COD, 613,175 tons of SS, 28,292 tons of TN, and 2,824 tons of TP annually. The Songshan Lake Area has the highest pollution loads, while the Water Town New Area has the least. The Central Downtown Area has the highest pollution export fluxes per unit area, while the Southeastern Bordering Shenzhen Area has lower levels. To reduce runoff pollution, better environmental management and public awareness are needed.
