New Basmati Rice Hybrids Show Significant Increase in Grain Yield!
Researchers studied how different combinations of basmati rice plants can produce higher grain yields. They crossed nine different rice lines to create 36 hybrids and compared them to the original plants. They found that 12 of these hybrids showed significant increases in grain yield compared to both the original plants and a standard variety. These hybrids also displayed improvements in various traits like flowering time, plant height, and grain weight. This research suggests that specific combinations of basmati rice plants can lead to better overall yields and plant characteristics.
