Chickpea irrigation schedule boosts crop yields, transforms Gezira farming in Sudan
The researchers studied how to best water chickpea crops in Gezira, Sudan using a computer model. They found that watering the crops every 15-20 days before flowering and every 8 days after flowering gave the best results. Watering at different intervals led to a slight decrease in crop yield. The study showed that chickpeas need about 380.3 mm of water to grow well in Gezira conditions.
