WTO boosts trade for new members, but unevenly favors developed countries.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) has had a mixed impact on new member countries' trade. A study looked at trade flows from 1995 to 2014 and found that the WTO has increased trade, but the benefits are unevenly distributed. Developed countries have gained the most, but there have also been some gains for the least developed countries (LDCs), especially in primary products. The WTO has promoted trade, but the effects vary between different types of countries and sectors.
