New Rice Genotypes Boost Grain Yield with Effective Selection Criteria
The study looked at 60 different types of rice to see how they vary in grain yield and related traits. They found that there is a lot of variation among the rice types, giving a good opportunity for selection. Traits like total tillers, ear bearing tillers, and filled grains showed high potential for improvement through direct selection. Traits like days to flowering and maturity, along with total tillers and filled grains, were closely linked to grain yield. The study also found that ear bearing tillers and filled grains had the most direct impact on grain yield, making them important for improving rice production.
