Climate change driving vegetation shifts in Tibet, impacting conservation efforts.
The study looked at how plants in the Yamzhog Yumco Basin in South Tibet respond to changes in climate. They found that the amount of vegetation in the area increased in some parts and decreased in others over the years. The temperature and rainfall were important factors affecting plant growth, with temperature having the biggest impact. The temperature and rainfall from the previous months also influenced plant growth. Grassland conservation projects should consider these time-lag effects on vegetation.
