Integrated weed management boosts winter castor productivity and profits significantly.
A study was conducted to see how different weed management methods affect the growth and yield of winter castor plants. They found that keeping the field weed-free or using a specific herbicide with hand-weeding resulted in fewer weeds and higher seed yield. The best method was pre-emergence application of pendimethalin followed by hand-weeding at specific times, which gave the highest profit compared to other methods tested. Overall, controlling weeds effectively led to better plant growth and higher profits for farmers.
