Unlocking Genetic Potential: Moth Bean Traits for Higher Yields Revealed
Genetic analysis was conducted on 40 different types of moth bean plants to study their seed yield and other traits. The study found significant differences among the plants for various characteristics like number of branches, seed yield, and leaf area. Traits like day to flowering, number of pods, and seed yield showed high heritability and genetic advance, indicating potential for improvement through selective breeding. The variability in these traits is likely due to genetic factors, suggesting that selecting plants based on their visible traits could lead to better yields in the future.
