New pearl millet hybrids show potential for higher grain yields.
The researchers studied different hybrids of pearl millet to see which ones had the best traits for high yield. They found that some hybrids showed strong positive traits like more tillers per plant and bigger earheads, while others had negative traits like longer flowering times. One hybrid in particular, DHLB-24A X S-19/27, had very high grain yield and positive traits in other areas. This suggests that further testing should be done on these hybrids to see if they can be used commercially.
