Water in Western Iraq Contaminated, Impacting Health and Agriculture.
The study looked at water in Khan Al-Baghdadi, Iraq, focusing on physical and chemical properties. Water samples from wells and the Euphrates River were analyzed. The water was found to be slightly alkaline, mineral-rich, and hard. Isotopic analysis showed a connection between river and groundwater, with similar sources and river recharge affecting groundwater. Variations in isotopic signatures were due to different water sources and mixing. The analysis indicated evaporation effects and seasonal changes in the water.
