Reducing nutrient use in potato farming boosts profits and environmental safety.
A study was done on potato growth in Northern Madhya Pradesh by testing different nutrient levels. The best results were seen with 100% NPK nutrients, leading to taller plants, more stems and leaves, and higher yields. The tubers and haulms also had higher nutrient uptake with this level. While using 150% NPK had the highest cost, using 100% NPK gave the highest gross and net returns. By reducing NPK by 25%, farmers can increase their returns and help the environment.
