Tree size diversity reveals resource utilization patterns in natural forests
Tree size diversity in the Elephant Camp natural forest was studied to understand how different habitats affect tree growth and survival. By analyzing tree stems in Riparian and Old-growth forests, researchers found that Riparian forests had more trees but Old-growth forests had higher species diversity and evenness. The diameter at breast height was similar in both forest types, with a positive skew in size-density distributions. Both forests had the same size-density frequency shape but different proportions of tree sizes and structural diversities.
