Coordinating water, energy, and food policies could enhance sustainability in South Asia
Land, water, and energy resources are facing increasing pressure due to population growth and climate change. To address this, a new approach called the water-energy-food nexus is suggested. This approach looks at the close connections between water, energy, and food sectors to improve sustainability. A framework has been proposed to help governments in South Asia coordinate policies and actions across these sectors. The framework involves harmonizing goals, identifying connections between sectors, assessing compatibility of objectives, and screening programs against nexus goals. This will help in designing policies that address trade-offs and enhance sustainability in resource use.
