Cities in India are facing problems due to too many cars and not enough public transportation. Smart Growth and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) are solutions to make cities more sustainable and less congested. TOD focuses on building around transit stations to reduce traffic and pollution. It has many benefits for society and the environment. However, there are challenges in funding and implementing TOD in India. Looking at successful examples from other countries can help India learn how to make TOD work effectively.
