Crop residue incorporation boosts wheat growth and yield significantly.
A study was done to see how adding leftover plant material from rice, guar, and cotton crops to the soil affects the growth and yield of wheat. They found that using rice and wheat straw as fertilizer made the wheat plants grow better and produce more grains. Adding guar and wheat straw specifically helped the wheat plants grow taller, have more tillers, longer spikes, more grains per spike, and higher grain and straw yields.
