Deficiency in LCN8 leads to sperm quality issues in mice.
The study found that mice lacking the LCN8 protein had sperm maturation issues in the epididymis, leading to abnormal sperm shape, reduced sperm movement, and increased sperm acrosome reaction. Knocking out LCN9 did not affect sperm quality. This shows that LCN8 plays a crucial role in maintaining sperm quality during maturation in the epididymis.
