Early-sowing rice leads to larger starch granules, impacting crop yield.
The temperature during the grain filling stage affects starch accumulation in rice. Two rice varieties were studied with different sowing dates. Early-sowing hindered starch synthesis due to high temperatures, while late-sowing allowed normal starch accumulation. The ideal temperature for starch enzyme activity was around 22°C. Higher temperatures increased branching enzyme activity but suppressed other enzymes. Early-sowing led to larger starch granules.
